With the release of the new Voice Chat/VOIP, the time has come for a quick tutorial on setting up and using this option.
When you login to your client now, you will have additional options you will have to set to be able to activate and use Voice Chat properly.
If you have a mic and speakers / headset plugged in, please follow the steps below to get everything set up.
You will have to go to your Options in-world to get the Voice Chat options set up. Once there, you will have to choose the 'Voice Chat' tab.
First, enable Voice Chat, as it will then allow you to set your Capture and Output devices, which would be your headphones or mic/speakers.
Below that are your volume settings, one for your own voice, and and one for what you're hearing.
Also available are Voice Fonts, which are actually pretty fun, and allow you to put a sort of filter on your own voice, so that it sounds like AM Radio, or a Sports Announcer, a Munchkin Man, and many others. You can sample and then subscribe as a feature if you like.
Ok, so all the options are set, you've got your headphones on and cranked up...now what?
Well you have to find someone else who has done the same
You'll have the ability to have 1-on-1 Voice Chats with any other user who has the same options set. If you right click on someone else, and you don't see the '1-on-1 Chat' in color, it means that person is not set up to have a Voice Chat at that time.
There are two areas that are active for group/room conversations right now, Merlin's and Zaby's.
In those areas, you will see indicators above the heads of users who have their Voice Chat enabled. To see who is talking at a certain time, you can click on the word bubble icon, just above your chat box. This will bring up your Audio Chat options, which will show who is speaking in a group chat, and also, is the spot to manage your conversations, if you are having more than one 1-on-1 conversation at a time.
If you enter a room with room voice chat enabled, you will be notified by a pop-up message as you enter the room.
PLEASE NOTE: Your voice chat is DISABLED by default. Your microphone will not be activated simply by entering a voice enabled room. You must explicitly enable voice chat for it work.
That should pretty much get everyone set up to use the voice chat, but if there's any questions, concerns, issues, etc, send an email into Support@Utherverse.com , TechSupport@Utherverse.com or file a ticket through http://Support.Utherverse.com and we'll be happy to assist.
Enjoy guys
